Exhibition Information

Global population hit the 7 billion mark in 2011 and a little over 50% live in urban areas. The United Nations expects this figure to arrive at 69% by 2050, when the population is projected to reach 9.3 billion. In 2010, there were already more than one billion cars on the world's roads, and it is not difficult to conclude that this number will grow exponentially in the next few decades. Large car populations lead to consequences such as unsustainable traffic, congestion, noise, transport costs, and depletion of non-renewable resources which threaten our efforts to build liveable cities.

To reduce people's dependence on private cars, diverse sustainable options need to be readily available. Focusing on the theme of SITCE 2013, "People-centred Mobility for Liveable Cities", an exhibition will run concurrently with the congress. This exhibition, expected to span 5,000sqm, will showcase urban transport technology, planning, development, systems and operations management from all over the world, allowing participants to explore and purchase products and services that could lead to improved transport systems in their cities.

Strategically located in Singapore, the exhibition expects to see intense participation from Asia-Pacific, where the urbanisation trend is especially strong, resulting in a rapidly growing transport market.
While car ownership is on the rise in this region, there is a rallying cry for better urban transport systems to make Asian cities more attractive places to live and work. This presents a unique opportunity for exhibitors to connect with buyers from these potentially large markets, which are increasingly interested in sustainable transport planning, traffic demand management and better public transport options.

Alongside the exhibition, the Expo Forum provides a dedicated venue in the exhibition hall where speakers will present in seminar sessions, the most advanced technologies and share their knowledge and innovations with the professional audience.
