Andrew de Silva is currently Deputy General Manager/VP Business Development of SDDA Pte Ltd, a fully owned subsidiary of ST Kinetics. His responsibilities cover the business development and commercialisation of electronic card repair and maintenance capability of SDDA for rail engineering. His interest is in enhancing the local MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) capability in rail engineering. He has been with SDDA since Oct 2017.
Andrew started out as a career Army officer, having the privilege of contributing to the design and development of the BIONIX Infantry Fighting Vehicle, Singapore’s first indigenously designed and developed armoured platform.
Andrew’s experience includes almost 10 years spent in the attractions industry, starting in the Singapore Discovery Centre (SDC) from June 2008 to Sep 2014 during which he headed the management of the Army Museum of Singapore, and the Operations and Engineering Departments of SDC. As the Director of the Army Museum of Singapore, his duties included overseeing the curating of exhibitions and programmes. From 2014 to 2016 he served as Director, Park Operations of the Wildlife Reserves Singapore, with responsibilities overseeing the operations of all 4 wildlife parks as well as membership acquisition and retention.
His operations background was honed from his 23 years in the SAF, having served as a career Armour Officer. His experience includes leading and managing military units, as well as developing weapon platform systems. In his pinnacle appointment as commander of an Armoured Brigade, he spearheaded the development of the brigade’s human resource and logistics management, training system and operational readiness.
