Marc Badoux studied civil engineering at ETH in Zurich and he received his doctorate degree in structural engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1987.  He then worked in engineering companies in Switzerland and the United States before becoming an Assistant Professor at the Swiss Federal Institut of Technology at Lausanne (EPFL).

After obtaining an executive MBA from IMD in 2003, he lead the construction of the m2, a new driverless metro line in Lausanne, Switzerland.  Since 2008, Marc Badoux is Deputy Director of Lausanne’s public transportation company in Lausanne.  He is responsible for the engineering and projects of a mixed metro, light rail and bus network with yearly ridership of over 110 mios passengers.
