Satoru Kitamura

Satoru Kitamura has been consistently working for railways (JRE) for more than 25 years in the various fields of maintenance, construction and R&D as a signal engineer. He worked at maintenance depots for first several years, contributing to safe and stable transportation. Following this he acquired four years for development of Digital ATC (D-ATC) system for commuter lines. After this work, he contributed to deployment of the first section of D-ATC system for Keihin-Tohoku line, and also, he contributed to deploying Digital ATC system for Shinkansen (DS-ATC) in the Morioka area. In addition to these experiences on Digital ATCs, he was also engaged in various constructions such as renewal of the ATS system of Nikko Line at the Omiya branch office and improvement of facilities of Akita Shinkansen at Tohoku Construction Office.

After these experiences on various projects, he served as a manager for Signal and Telecommunication section of Niigata branch office, and has been working at R&D Center of JR East Group since 2016. His recent research topics are the safety of level crossings, optical fiber sensing technology application for railway, safety analysis of signal system using STAMP method, and so on.
