Since Yukiko KIMISHIMA joined East Japan Railway Company (JR East), she has played a key role in various fields such as railway operation management and human resource development.

She was engaged in station management as an assistant station master at Ueno station, one of the major High Speed Rail (Shinkansen) stations in Tokyo, and then as the station master at Kawaguchi station, Metropolitan Tokyo.
In 2003, she became an assistant manager of Customer Service Department and was in charge of improving customer service in the company.

From 2009 to 2015, when she was working at the human resource department, she contributed to establishing a comprehensive training system for all the JR East employees, such as promoting Kaizen activities and supporting the On-Job Training at each work site.

Now she is responsible for enhancing JR East’s presence in the world and fostering the relationship with international organizations such as UITP. She strongly believes that public transport can promote social innovation, and she is honoured to achieve this collaborated with the activities of UITP.
